His formal training came from Globe Recording Institute, in San Francisco, CA; however, he has learned many skills and secrets by picking the brains of a few friends who have been in the recording business for years. Tom has a very strong relationship with his co-producer, co-collaborator, and co-conspirator, Andrew Glasmacher. They've known each other for well over 20 years, playing in bands together, running sound systems as a team, and recording and co-producing various projects at Mohair and all around the Bay Area.
